WELCOME TO JAPAN!

So, you have reached the little Island on the west of the grand Pacific Ocean.
Let us give you some advice on living and driving in Japan.

From the fact that you are reading our English guide to driving, we assume that you are not too fluent, or at least less fluent in Japanese than in English.

In general, Japanese people are said to be quiet compared to many other places in the world. You may want to keep that in mind before you start communicating with them. In fact, they could be even more shy if you only speak English. Although English is incorporated in the education for most people, many of us are still quite intimidated in speaking foreign languages. Of course, some may show their excitement getting to know you. You should be fine as long as you pay sufficient respect to other cultures.

One tip from us. Memorize this word. Use it.
ありがとう “ari-ga-to-u” Thank you---it should take you a long way.
