In 1792, ACE's predecessor company, the Insurance Company of North America insured the proud ship "America" as she navigated the wintry seas from Philadelphia to Londonderry. That event launched us on our voyage to deliver responsive and innovative marine insurance and loss control services to our customers worldwide.

We’re one of the oldest and largest U.S. ocean marine insurers. We trace our heritage back more than 200 years to the Philadelphia-based Insurance Company of North America (INA), which wrote its first two policies insuring an 18th century sailing ship, America, with its cargo on its transatlantic voyage from Philadelphia to Northern Ireland. Since then, we have become the insurer to trust for solutions to worldwide commercial marine exposures, from simple journeys to involved passage with many ports-of-call throughout the globe.
